 Boat Quay

Once a bustling hive of activity when its godowns were the loading and unloading point for hundreds of ships anchored in the harbour, Boat Quay has since been refurbished and today houses dozens of bars and restaurants.

This is one of the first places many visitors to Singapore head when they’re looking for a meal, and its not hard to understand why once you’re seated next to the river enjoying a meal from one of the myriad of restaurants. You can find food from all over the world here, including Thai, Italian, Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese, Tex Mex and Seafood.

Getting there: Raffles Place MRT, exit G.
5 minutes walk to: The Fullerton Singapore, Asian Civilisations Museum, Merlion Park, Bumboat cruises.

Thai Thai Restaurant
Thai Restaurant

Unless you’re on official palace business, it’s not often you get to say you ate like a King. But at Thai Thai Restaurant on the banks of the historic Singapore River you’ll get as close to that as you can in the Lion City.

Not only are all the chefs at Thai Thai exclusively Thai themselves, but they are overseen by the son of a Thai Royal Palace chef – meaning you will get only authentic Thai food here. Chaluth Cheepsatayakorn is the man in charge, having learnt the arts of Thai cuisine since he was six years old. His mother was his teacher, having learnt her trade from the tender age of seven in the Royal kitchens.

Today Chaluth brings his skills to Boat Quay where you can dine out next to the river on what he learnt first-hand from his mother – skills that have earnt Thai Thai numerous awards since the restaurant opened just two years ago.

If you want to have something truly Asian while you’re in town, then Thai Thai is as authentic as it gets.
