| Singapore Zoo |

The Singapore Zoo is considered one of the best in the world. And it is not hard to see why – there are more than 3200 animals and 332 species held here in enclosures that give the impression the animals are roaming free. Of course they are not, but the barriers are hidden from the visitors’ eyes so it’s easy to imagine the animals in their natural habitat.
One of the highlights here is the Orang utan enclosure where you can even have breakfast with these friendly animals at the Jungle Breakfast with Wildlife programme.
Getting there: Taxi is the easiest option, but you can also take the MRT to go to Ang Mo Kio Station then take bus 138. You can also take the MRT to Choa Chu Kang Station then take bus 927.
Prices: $18 adult, $9 child. Tram ride: $5 adult, $2.50 child.
Tel: (65) 6269 3411.
Opening hours: 8.30am-6pm daily.
Rainforest Kidzworld

Even the adults are getting jealous of the kids at the Singapore Zoo these days. That is, since the Zoo opened its new Rainforest Kidzworld playland.
Set amongst the lush Singapore Zoo rainforest, Kidzworld is the answer to energetic children and accompanying parents alike.
Bring the swim suits for the kids because there’s plenty of water play here, including a playground that is crowned by a massive elephant water bucket that tips over from time to time, drenching everyone below. There are also some tugboats and wobbly bridges that even look fun to the adults as well!
Outside the water areas, there are also some drier pursuits available. For a little bit of “old Singapore” you can explore the nooks and crannies of the Kampung (village) house. Or check out the Creature Plants section, where you can learn about plants with animal names. There’s also an animal carousel for both kids and adults to take a ride as well as a very cool flying fox to take a swing on.
And a trip to the Zoo with the kids isn’t ever complete without getting up and close with some real live animals. For that, there are goats, bunnies and guinea pigs, as well as some falabellas (miniature horses) to groom. The kids can also take some pony rides and horse carriage rides to round out the visit. Just make sure that the kids don’t use up all their energy at Kidzworld before exploring the rest of the Singapore Zoo!
Location: Singapore Zoo
Opening hours: 8.30am-6pm daily
Admission: Included in the Zoo admission of $18 adult, $9 child
Carousel Ride: $4 adult, $4 child
Pony Ride: $6 child
Horse Carriage Ride: $6 adult, $6 child

| MacRitchie Reservoir |
Singapore, while a modern city, is also famous for being the greenest city in Asia, if not the world. Lying at the centre of the island is a beautiful example of this – MacRitchie Reservoir.
The Reservoir is surrounded by jungle filled with nature paths for you to explore. If you get there early you are more than likely to catch a bunch of monkeys at play in the cool morning air. The morning is also a great time to get yourself ready for the day by practicing a bit of Tai-Chi – or if you can’t do that, then just watch the locals.
Spreading themselves out amongst the trees and beautiful gardens, the sight of people preparing for the day in such a way is strangely relaxing!
Getting there: Take MRT to Novena then bus 132 or 167.
Prices: Free of charge.
