The traditional home of Singapore’s Indian community, Little India is a must-see during your stay in Singapore. You’ll find almost anything that’s Indian here from handicrafts and Kashmir silk to silk-threaded saris and Indian brassware. Two famous Singaporean shopping centres call the area home as well – the Tekka Centre and Mustafa Centre. Affectionately known as the KK Centre by locals, the Tekka Centre is a bustling wet market full of fresh veggetables, fish, meat, spices and flowers. You’ll also find some small brassware shops here that are worth a look.

At the other end of Serangoon Road is the humble-looking Mustafa Centre – but don’t be fooled, inside is a shopping centre with floor-upon-floor of bargains for anything you ever wanted. You will quite possibly find the lowest prices in Singapore here. Also in the Little India area is Sim Lim Square which is renowned as the centre of all electronics shopping in Singapore. See the electronics section below for more information.
