| Bangkok is known all over the world for its great shopping. In fact, the Tourism Authority openly suggests you bring an extra (empty) bag so you can take everything you buy home with you!
As far as affordable shopping is concerned, Bangkok really has the market cornered, with plenty of night markets to enjoy along with all the usual top brands you can get all over the world.
One thing we do warn you about is the jewelry scam that catches many unsuspecting tourists unawares in Bangkok. If anyone ever approaches you to tell you about the "last day" of a great jewelry sale that's going on, and how you can "sell all the jewelry you buy when you get back home to pay for your trip"... beware! It's one of the oldest scams in the book. A lot of people have been hurt by this one, so it's best not to take the bait.
Otherwise, of course, Bangkok has a multitude of enjoyable shopping to be had - especially at the night markets of Jatujak, Patpong and Suan-Lum where you'll be haggling to yoru heart's content!
